This tribute show is dedicated
to two popular singers with very different styles – Tom Jones with
his energetic and overtly sexual style, and Engelbert Humperdinck with his very much more smooth, laid back and easy going style. Both Tom and Engelbert were managed by Gordon Mills – who incidentally co-wrote Jones’ hit It’s Not Unusual. They have a reputation for being rivals, but I think their rivalry was a little more friendly than many reports might have you believe.
If you like the smooth romantic sounds of songs like Spanish Eyes, Am I That Easy To Forget and After The Lovin’; the powerful ballads like Till, Release Me, I Who Have Nothing and With These Hands; and the more up-tempo songs such as Ten Guitars, Quando Quando Quando, Sex Bomb and Help Youself – then this is the night for you!
Also included in the show are the huge hits Release Me, Delilah, Green Grass Of Home, and The Last Waltz.
And who knows….. if Engelbert can pull off a famous victory in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest, then this year I might include his new song Love Will Set You Free
